Originally from Leicestershire, William developed an interest in farming from a young age. At the age of 15, he was working on a beef and sheep farm, where he was involved in feeding, TB testing and gathering. With an interest in science and farming, this led William to pursue a career in veterinary medicine.
While studying at the University of Edinburgh, William initially developed an interest in pigs before focusing more on poultry. He was drawn to the flock-based management approach rather than the individual animal approach.
During his clinical years, William joined St David’s Poultry Team for a number of placements, which allowed him to experience broiler units, game birds and layer sites. This experience allowed William to get a feel for the team’s approach, ethos, and opportunities available.
William has a particular interest in pathology and understanding diseases at a microscopic level and is looking forward to building client relationships and applying everything he has learnt to real-world challenges.
