Practice Update: Leominster Office temporarily closed due to AI

Following recent cases of highly pathogenic Avian Influenza (AI) within the Herefordshire area, we have made the decision to temporarily close our Leominster practice base.

This decision has been made to limit the biosecurity risk and movement of poultry within the practice area, and there will be some small changes to the way that we work in order to ensure that we are following the correct guidance and protocols to limit the spread of the disease.

With this in mind, last week we sent guidance to clients on the latest COVID-19 and Avian Influenza practice protocols. These include that our vets will now be calling all clients ahead of any scheduled visits to assess the health status of your flock before visiting the site. Any post-mortems that are required will now also be taking place at the farm gate to limit the number of people entering the farm premises where we are able to do so.

To see the latest updates to our full COVID-19 and Avian Influenza protocol, please see our website here.

During the Leominster office closure, we ask that all clients call our head office number, 01392 872932, and your call will be diverted to the relevant veterinary surgeon, or Leominster team member whilst our staff continue to work from home during this period. Any product or vaccine orders that need to be placed during this time should also be made directly with our dispensary team via the same telephone number, and any deliveries will need to be made to your site, rather than to the Leominster office for collection.

We do apologise for any inconvenience that this may cause, however we will do all that we can to limit the impact of these changes, whilst also protecting the biosecurity and limiting the risk of the spread of AI during this period.

We will keep you updated regarding the office closure and any updates within the Leominster area as required. If you have any queries regarding any of these changes, or any concerns about your flock then please speak to your vet or contact the practice on 01392 872932.
