Peking to Paris Classic Car Rally 2016
Richard Turner and friend, Nigel Lee, are taking part in the 2016 Peking to Paris Classic rally. They will be covering a staggering 12,000 kilometres over 36 days on a route that will take them from Peking, through the Mongolia and the Gobi Desert, into Russia and onto Europe. Over 120 classic cars will take part, yet, they are the only team to enter from Devon!
Over the past year, Richard and Nigel have been rebuilding a 1938 Ford 62 V8 and within the next week, it will be ready to be shipped to China for the event to commence at 12th June. If all goes to plan, they aim to reach the finish line in Paris on the 17th July!
They have chosen to raise money for Devon based cancer charity FORCE. Over the last 28 years FORCE has raised over £10 million to help fund local cancer services. Why local? Simply because anyone diagnosed with cancer deserves the best possible treatment and professional support close to home. Although FORCE was originally set up in 1987 to fund local research, (Friends of the Oncology and Radiotherapy Centre Exeter); the Charity has responded to the changing needs of people affected by cancer. All proceeds will go to FORCE, we would like to thank all our partners who have sponsored the team to far.
Their website www.pekingparis2016.org provides an overview of the rally and describes the rebuild through videos and blogs. You can also follow their progress on Twitter (@pekingparis2016) and Facebook (Peking to Paris- Nigel & Richard). For more information about the rally, please visit Endurorally.
We will keep you posted on their progress!
