Avian Influenza risk level increased to 'high' for wild birds

The risk level for Avian Influenza in the UK has been increased from ‘medium’ to ‘high’ in wild birds following two unrelated cases confirmed in Kent and Cheshire on 2nd November. The risk of infection within poultry in the UK has now also been increased from ‘low’ to ‘medium’.

In line with the increased risk levels that came into affect on 6th November, the Animal & Plant Health Agency are urging bird keepers to remain vigilant and to maintain increased biosecurity measures to limit the risk of infection within their flock.
