We are very pleased to announce an investment in analysing antibiotic resistance. St David’s have purchased the first MIC ( Minimum Inhibitory Concentration ) testing equipment for our bacteriology lab, and will from now on always analyse bacterial sensitivity using this system.
The data provided will allow us to better understand the resistance patterns of bacterial cultures, and ensure where possible we use the lowest allowed antibiotic dose rates. We will be also able to compare and contrast all sensitivity results in a detailed way, and as time progresses publish more data to our client base. This we believe is the first such equipment to be used in poultry practices in the UK, and shows our continued commitment to innovation and reduction in antibiotic usage.
