Dispensary Assistant
St David’s Poultry Team is the leading commercial poultry veterinary practice in the UK and Ireland. We’re independently owned, with 28 vets, 10 field service technicians and 15 branches/practices.
Our head office is based on Nutwell Estate in Lympstone, where you’ll find our dispensary and warehouse team. This team co-ordinate and manage a vast amount of medication, vaccines and other products and supplies for our customers. You’ll also find our marketing, finance teams, HR and many of our staff who support our vets and field services team, as well as some of our directors.
The role
As Dispensing Assistant, you’ll be joining our growing and busy Dispensary and Warehouse team of six. It’s a fast-paced and varied role, that fundamentally supports both teams, to help make sure that our clients have the products they need, when they need them, to support the health and welfare of the birds under our veterinary team’s care.

As there are very few comparable organisations/roles – previous experience isn’t necessary however you’ll need to be someone who is highly organised. We’re open to someone at the beginning of their career, or someone more experienced looking for a change.
Day-to-day you’ll be:
- Processing orders, including the dispatch of medication
- Making sure that orders are dispatched before courier deadlines, and have the necessary paperwork
- Dealing with customer questions or queries – this is usually over the phone or by email
- Checking and maintaining stock levels
- Invoicing of orders
You’ll be joining a team that are hugely supportive of each other, who have a wealth of experience in their roles, and have enjoyed being part of St David’s for a number of years.
About you
In terms of skills and what you enjoy doing, you’ll need to be someone with:
- Good organisational skills who thrives in a busy environment – you’ll need to be logical and someone who can prioritise their workload
- Good computer skills – this role uses Word, Excel and Outlook, regularly
- Be good with numbers – part of the role will involve doing basic calculations to fulfil orders (this is supervised by the vets and qualified SQPs)
- Great customer service skills
- The ability to problem solve
