These visits have proved successful in that the rearer does not have to travel to the Practice at the most busy time of the year. As well as this, any samples that are not representative can be discarded and more samples taken. Treatment regimes and water flow rate dynamics can be assessed at the same time. A picture of disease is built up and disease can be predicted thus allowing preventive strategies to be instigated for future age groups. Shoots are visited when required and specific shoot audits can be requested. The Game vet will visit the pens and give advice on treatment regimes based on previous history. Worming programs, vaccination requirements based on current and past disease situations and sanitisation of ground are discussed. More adults are being over wintered and there is a requirement for full vaccination plans. We currently advise vaccination for Marble spleen disease as well as Mycoplasma Gallisepticum. Newcastle vaccination is advised depending on risk at any given time although is not routinely carried out. |
