Meat birds are a large sector of the practices work with the majority of the birds in Ireland under the Poultry Team's care. In the UK the vets focus on independent growers as well as the major integrators. All farm visits and laboratory work is available to the grower via a secure internet based database. For 2009/2010 we are investigating the provision of a national bench marking database for all meat bird producers.
Farm visits by both vets and fieldsman are provided depending on the disease or production issue. The use of in house fieldsman reduces costs should a vet not be required or requested, for example blood sampling.
The veterinary partners are widely experienced in all aspects of the poultry industry, but it is the personal on farm service provided to all farms whatever size, that defines the high standards of St David's Poultry Team.
