Margaret graduated from The Royal Veterinary College London in 1988. After this she spent her time working in a mixed practice for 15 years. Situated in the centre of Northern Ireland’s chicken producing region she developed an interest in poultry and completed a diploma in Poultry Science at the Scottish Agricultural College.
In 2004, Margaret established the poultry practice in Northern Ireland which treated all bird species. Then, in 2009 she joined St David’s Poultry Team and is currently responsible for treating birds for a large Irish food producer so has gained in depth experience with grandparent and parent stock birds.
She is a representative for the breeder, meat and layer sectors of the Northern Ireland industry on the advisory groups which liaise with the government on disease, welfare and contingency planning issues. Additionally Margaret is the Chairman of The Poultry Association of Northern Ireland.
At the University College of Dublin she delivers Poultry Health lectures in order to help inspire future poultry vets.
