Two vet positions based in Yorkshire

Are you interested in production medicine and looking for a career change?

We are currently recruiting for two veterinary positions based from our Northallerton, Yorkshire branch.

If you already have experience in poultry medicine or if you are a mixed practice vet looking for a new challenge, with no TB testing or weekday night duties involved, then we would love to hear from you.

In addition to our full-time role, we also have a unique opportunity for a colleague to work with us for 8 months of the year. This position would predominantly be within our game bird team working from April to November. The salary would reflect this but would be paid over a 12 month period.

The ideal candidates must be strong and confident communicators with a commitment to learning. An interest in poultry and game bird medicine is essential, although no previous experience is required. Poultry Internship

Two poultry internships currently available. One of the internships will be based from our Northern Ireland practice.

St David’s Poultry team are offering post graduate internships for new graduates or recently graduated vets. This unique opportunity will allow you to fully experience this multi-faceted industry whilst being supported and mentored by our experienced team of Poultry Vets.

About the Internship

The internship will be 6 months in duration and your primary base will be at the head office in Lympstone, near Exeter. During your time with us you will receive formal tutorials and practical on farm training in all aspects of Poultry Veterinary medicine.

Tutorials are on a weekly basis and our aim is to formally cover a large range of poultry and game bird topics. This is then backed up by practical on farm visits. Time will be spent at all of our 13 poultry bases across the UK and Ireland. This will allow you to fully experience all aspects of our business and be tutored by some of the leading poultry professionals.

Administrator required for Bampton Practice 

We are currently looking for a new colleague to join our busy Veterinary team, based at our Bampton premises, in Tiverton.    

As part of the role you will be responsible for the efficient running of the office with particular regard to dealing directly with our customers, dispensing of medication, and assisting our head office with the inputting of customer reports.  

The main responsibilities and objectives are:

  1. To answer the telephone and liaise with customers in a polite and professional manner, dealing with all enquiries or requested as required.
  2. Inputting all laboratory results into our appropriate systems.
  3. Communication of work to appropriate staff.
  4. Manage stock levels in Bampton Dispensary and Laboratory suite.
  5. Creation of stock labels with correct prescription dose rates for dispensing medication.
  6. Ensure that the Bampton office is kept to a high standard of cleanliness, including a thorough deep-cleanse of the post mortem suite.
  7. Any administration duties as needed to ensure the smooth and efficient running of the Laboratory Office.

The ideal candidate must have excellent administration skills and accurate data entry ability, with the ability to work alone as well as part of a team. Some knowledge of game or poultry is preferred but not essential as full training will be provided. 

This role is on a part-time permanent basis, with the hours required flexible around any existing commitments. Salary will be dependent on hours, qualifications and relevant experience, and the position is available for an immediate start.
